The day before the celebration of our Independence, President Benigno "Pnoy" Aquino III promised that his government would keep on fighting for what he called the "new freedom.
Aquino said, "Independence Day is drawing near. We will not stop until we achieve the new freedomfreedom from hunger and poverty." He said that the country could reach this freedom with the help of the people and of our friends across the world.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that Pnoy is going to take in the Independence Day ceremony at the Barasoain Church in Bulacan at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Valte said that Aquino will also lead in the raising of the flag, deliver a speech and lay a wreath at the historic church where the First Philippine Republic started.
After the ceremony in Bulacan, he will go back to Malacañang where he will accept members of the diplomatic corps for the traditional vin d'honneur at 9 in the morning. — ARA
