A new study in Canada has found other benefits that we can get from omega-3s, other than healthy aging, it has found that having fish for dinner could aid stave off age-related vision loss.

According to the article from Agence France-Presse, with the usual aging, vision loss results from the increase of a toxic molecule at the backside of the eyes which builds up in the retina.

Researchers' from University of Alberta made an experiment where they fed mice with an omega-3 fatty acid known as docosahexaenoic acid or DHA.

The research team found that the nutrient seen in oily fish like salmon can prevent the buildup of the toxin which normally increases twofold as people age.

It was announced by the Canadian researchers, the latest to build on research vaunting the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in healthy aging. A diet low in omega-3 fatty acids may cause the brain to age faster, based on the journal Neurology published earlier this year.
