Lim dismisses 2 MPD police

Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim yesterday ordered the summary dismissal of two policemen from the Manila Police District -Station 6 after a family in Sta. Ana, accused them and a barangay executive officer of having robbed their house and pointing their guns at them.

This, even as Lim directed MPD Director, Chief Supt. Alex Gutierrez, to conduct a manhunt for the immediate arrest of PO3 Morris Malindog who, of the three suspects, remains at large.

The two other suspects, identified as PO2 Robert Cruz, 36, of No. 1283 Int. 38 Aurora Blvd., Sta. Cruz, Manila , and barangay executive officer Regente Osalla, 36, of Pasig Line, Sta. Ana, have been arrested and are now in detention.

Lim's directives came after pouses Carlo Mark, 36 and Shental Bagui, 34, both of No. 2288 B Paco Roman St. in Sta. Ana, went to Lim's office yesterday to personally relay the incident and thank the mayor for his assistance.

The victims told the mayor that at around 8:30 p.m. of May 30, the suspects barged into their home and pointed a gun at their mother Patricia Velzy, 55, a balikbayan. The suspects then reportedly detained Velzy and Bagui's three kids in aged 2, 11 and 13, inside the comfort room.

The suspects, who were said to be clad only in shorts and t-shirts, also allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who will try to get out of the house and warned that they have a live grenade.

When the complainants went to the MPD Station 6 to file a complaint, they saw the suspects there, prompting them to proceed to the MPD-theft and robbery section instead.

The victims said they lost some P3 million worth of valuables from the suspects who came and left aboard a red Mitsubishi car with plate number THD-998.

Among those taken from them were expensive watches, laptops and Shental's locket pendant, which contained part of the ashes of her kid who died in 2004.

Before leaving, the couple profusely thanked Lim for acting on their case. Lim, on the other hand, assured them that policemen getting involved in illegal activities will never be tolerated or allowed to stay in the service a minute longer. - manila.gov.ph
