The Office of Civil Defense-Department of National Defense VI, together with PHAP Cares Foundation Inc., will be launching today, June 5, the Pagpakigbuylog sa Pagpangaman (Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction) in the municipality of Madalag.
According to Rosario T. Cabrera, OCD-DND VI Regional Director and Chairperson of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, the launching, to be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Madalag Covered Gym, is the third one to be held in Western Visayas after the same project was launched in Iloilo City and Guimaras last February 6 and May 15, respectively.
Cabrera said target partners for the project in Aklan are the pilot barangays from Madalag, Malinao, and Libacao.
Prior to the launching, a press conference will be held, participated in by representatives of partner agencies in Disaster Risk Reduction.
Cabrera will be presenting the project brief, with messages to be delivered by Aklan Governor Carlito S. Marquez and Reiner W. Gloor, CEO, PHAP Cares Foundation, Inc.
Highlight of the launching will be the signing of the memorandum of agreement/signing of commitment by partner agencies Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Health-Center for Health Development Western Visayas , Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, 3rd Infantry Division Philippine Army, and PNP Regional Office 6.
A simultaneous conduct of activities will follow after the launching, which include medical and dental mission, ceremonial turn-over of seedlings, health and nutrition education, briefing on DRR and RA 10121 and early warning system during public storm warning signals with the BDRRMCs of the pilot barangays and distribution of DRR information, education, communication materials to recipient barangays. -
