A total of 44 public high schools in Marinduque have been given boxes of books by the Books of Asia Foundation, Makati City on May 30.
All nine districts of Departmet of Education-Marinduque from the municipalities of Boac, Mogpog, Sta. Cruz, Torrijos, Buenavista, Gasa will benefit from the donation.
Boac Bishop Rey Evangelista, in coordination with the MarinduCare Foundation, Inc., initiated the book donation request and turnover ceremony at Don Luis Hidalgo Memorial School, which is part of the church's literacy project for high school students, integrated with other projects like feeding, livelihood among others.
Kawanis International's former District Governor, Boy Valencia together with Kawanis members turned the boxes of goods over to all the principals of the beneficiary schools. After the turnover, teachers rendered the traditional Putong ceremony of the province not just to welcome the guests but also to show their appreciation for the donated books.
The collection of books donated varies from Literature, Arts, Statistics, Astronomy, Reading, Writing, Biology and many more. MarinduCare Foundation, Inc. helped in the smooth turnover of the book donation.
The foundation was represented by Chona V. Calayo, Executive Director and Vivian Madrigal, Vice-Chairman. Also present in the event were Cecilia S. Manay, OIC, Schools Division Superintendent, Editha Manguera, OIC of Don Luis Hidalgo Memorial School who attended in behalf of Principal Edmundo Limbo and Myran Sajo of the Marinduque National High School. -
