Aquino grateful for INC's support

President Benigno Aquino III was assured that the Evangelical Mission prayer rally of the mass gathering of Iglesia ni Cristo members at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park was not intended to hand out as a caution to Aquino as regards on impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

The president said that he was grateful that the event on Tuesday was not political but spiritual.

Aquino also said in an interview at the 4th National Congress of the Coordinating Council of Private Education Associations Congress that he was informed that the rally was part of their religious obligations and part of their faith.

He said that like any other Filipino, they are really endeavoring to provide each and everyone all the opportunity towards personal advancement regardless of faith, regardless of political beliefs. He added that the provision of these opportunities is the primary obligation and duty of the government.

He further said, "How about the number who are supportive of our efforts? I think you should also mention that. Let us not forget, we were also reminded that 2014 marks their centennial... That will be a very major event in their calendar and these are activities geared towards maximizing their 2014 centennial celebration."

Aquino on the other hand said that he is grateful for the support of the INC for the period of the 2010 presidential elections as well as in the 2007 senatorial polls. — ARA
