The Department of Foreign Affairs is investigating the death of an OFW in Syria, according to Esteban B. Conejos Jr., Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs.
The OFW, whose identity cannot yet be disclosed until the next-of-kin are informed, was rushed to Mujtahed Hospital in Damascus last February 22 while waiting for her onward connection to Manila at the Damascus International Airport, along with 11 other OFW repatriates.
She later died reportedly of renal failure.
The Embassy and the Philippine Honorary Consul in Aleppo are investigating the death further and will submit a report as soon as possible. -
