Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino today announced the scheduled implementation of the vehicle tagging scheme on all non-metered AUVs, shuttle, and tourist buses starting December 12.
During an inspection conducted today at the terminal in Trinoma Mall being used by members of the 10,000-strong Alliance of Concerned Transport Operators (ACTO) headed by Efren De Luna, Tolentino expressed gratitude for the support shown by the group for the said program. Simultaneous paintings were also done by ACTO members in Parañaque, Manila, and Taguig.
"Our main objective in implementing the tagging scheme is to eradicate the operation of colorum vehicles. ACTO's voluntary compliance to it will definitely boost our campaign as it shows willingness to police their own rank," Tolentino said.
"I am hopeful that other transport groups will follow ACTO's act and have their units painted as early as now to avoid any inconvenience once we start with the full implementation," Tolentino pointed out. -
