The local government of Makati released today a total of P244,522,000.44 in bonuses for its 8,130 employees, a statement said.
Mayor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay said he has ordered the early release of the year-end bonuses so that city workers can do their Christmas shopping early, which is both convenient and economical.
"Besides being able to shop at ease, than doing it during the Christmas rush, our city employees will be able to save on costs as they will avoid the usual price increases as the Yuletide Season approaches," Binay said.
Year-end bonuses received by Makati employees include the 13th month pay, fringe benefits, which is almost equivalent to a month's salary, cash gift of P5,000, and P3,000 as incentive allowance.
Based on the records of the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) of Makati, the lowest ranking casual employees with Salary Grade 1 will receive at least P20,228.48 each, while the lowest ranking regular employees will receive P17,162.50. Regular employees had earlier received half of their 13th month pay last May, which was released in time for enrolment.
According to HRDO, the city workforce to date consists of 4,052 regular employees, 3,526 casual employees, and 552 contractual employees. -
