The National Irrigation Administration Magat River Integrated Irrigation System has started releasing its impounded water as rains continue to pour in the watershed areas of the dam.
The dam management has registered water elevation at 192.95 cubic meters as of press time which is already near its spilling level of 193 meters. The dam alsoregistered an inflow of 1,173 cubic meters per second and outflow at 983 cubic meters per second.
Engineer Wilfredo Gloria of Magat dam said the management has already registered the inflow of more than one thousand cubic meter per second as of 12:00 noon today and has opened two of its spilling gates at five meters each in anticipation of the incoming rainwaters from the dam's watershed areas.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical and Astronomical Services Administration has said on Sunday that a low pressure area spotted in northern Luzon is threatening to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the succeeding days and will be bringing slight to heavy rains.
On Monday, rains started to fall in the province and still raining until today, not only in Isabela but also in nearby provinces of northern and central Luzon including the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The police, military and the provincial government are closely monitoring the low-lying areas in the province and have activated its rescue teams in case of emergencies. -
