PNoy to KBP: Work towards harmonious relationships with government, media and people

President Benigno S. Aquino III has urged the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, as the leading media organization in the country, to accelerate steps towards harmonious relationship among the government, media and the people.

"Hinihikayat ko ang KBP na lalo pang paigtingin ang inyong mga hakbang sa pagtataguyod ng mapagkakatiwalaan, maaasahan at walang kinikilingang ugnayan sa pagitan ng pamahalaan, ng media at ng sambayanang Pilipino," (I am encouraging KBP to further accelerate steps in establishing a reliable, competent and impartial relationship between government, media and the Filipino people.)

Aquino cleared that "ang inaasam natin ay tunay na ugnayan sa pagitan ng media at ng pamahalaan," (we are aiming for genuine interaction between the media and the government).

The media serves as the watchdog of democracy in the country together with the administration in maintaining the highest level of professionalism, integrity and credibility, he added.

Aquino also said that everyone has a role to perform in the country's traverse through the "matuwid na daan" (right pathway) in responsible journalism and genuine concern to our fellows.

President Aquino was the keynote speaker during the recent opening of the 37th Top Level Management Conference of the KBP held in Holiday Inn, this Freeport.

TLMC is an annual meeting of the KBP wherein critical issues affecting the broadcast industry are being discussed. -PIA — ARA
