PPUR joins the New7Wonders of Nature by prelim votes

The Puerto Princesa Underground River joins the provisional New7Wonders of Nature based on the first count of vote results on 11/11/11.

Included in the preliminary list are: Amazon of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela; Halong Bay of Vietnam; Iguazu Falls of Argentina, Brazi; Jeju Island of Korea; Komodo of Indonesia; Puerto Princes Underground River of Palawan, Philippines; and Table Mountain of South Africa.

Votes are now being checked, validated and independently verified, and the confirmed winners will be announced early 2012 during the Official Inauguration ceremonies.

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone-formed mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. underground river showcasing formations of stalactites and stalagmites.
