About 35 million worth of sea shells, black corals, and green sea turtles or pawikan& were held by Customs officials in Eva Macapagal Terminal in Manila's South Harbor, Wednesday.
According to Nestorio Gualberto, Customs Police Director, the contraband, which is supposed to be transported to China and Europe, was discovered inside a shipment van from Cotabato City under the name of Exequiel Navarro.
Navarro will be charged a case against violating the Fisheries code of 1988.
The confiscated shipment will be turned over to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), said Gualberto.
The Customs officials said that an informant called them about the illegal shipment that will arrive at Manila South Border. — ARA
