The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority was able to apprehend more than 1,000 violators on the first day of the implementation of the motorcycle lane along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.
MMDA information officer Candy de Jesus said, "They would not be fined for the one week of implementation. They will be only lectured on the safety guidelines while riding their motorbikes."
MMDA said that most of the violations were reckless driving, swerving, and having no helmet.
The motorcycle lane scheme started on Monday on the two major main roads to lessen fatal accidents involving motorbikes. — ARA
