The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that violating motorcycle drivers who traverse Commonwealth and Macapagal Avenues will be required to attend a seminar on motorcycle riding safety.
A weeklong dry run for motorcycle lanes scheme will start on Monday, according to MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino.
The motorcycle lanes were designated at the fourth lane of the 12.5-kilometer Commonwealth Avenue and the rightmost lane of Macapagal Avenue.
Tolentino said that they will not issue traffic violation receipts yet, however, they will need to attend a 1-hour-long seminar.
He said, "If the other lanes are full, other vehicles may use the motorcycle lanes. However, motorcycles are not allowed to leave their designated lane."
The MMDA chairman said that after the dry run violators will be charged Php 500 as fine.
Motorcycles and motorbikes still need to maintain the 60-kilometer-per-hour speed limit imposed on the two highways, even in their own designated lanes. — ARA
