The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority created "motorcycle lanes" along Commonwealth and Macapagal Avenues to lessen the road accidents involving motorcycles.
According to MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino, the fourth lane along Commonwealth Avenue and the rightmost lane of Macapagal Avenue have been assigned as motorcycle lanes.
He added that a dry run is scheduled for Oct. 10 to 16. This will be after the information campaign that the agency is currently doing.
MMDA enforcers are expected to issue tickets for traffic violators when the full implementation of the policy starts on Oct. 17. The fine is still being studied on.
Tolentino also added that motorcycle drivers are still expected to respect the 60 kilometer per hour speed limit in spite of the lanes assigned to them. — ARA
